Additional Sony DVP-NS57P/S Progressive Scan DVD Player, Silver Information

The DVP-NS57P/S DVD player features Precision Cinema Progressive technology, providing sharper images for a better viewing experience. Unlike other DVD players that detect image changes at the Scan line level-Sony's Precision Cinema Progressive (PCP) system detects them at the Pixel level. This results in images closer to the original source data, because separate, optimized algorithms are used to handle the differing Pixel behavior. Separate algorithms are also used to process the moving and still parts of an image, resulting in sharp backgrounds with moving objects that are free from motion artifacts. Sony's Precision Drive III mechanism is also included, which helps maximize the performance of DVD collections by reading data even on some physically "warped" discs. Other benefits include fast/slow playback with sound, and custom parental control.

What Customers Say About Sony DVP-NS57P/S Progressive Scan DVD Player, Silver:

The price is a good indication of it's true quality.Mine failed after exactly one year and three days.Treat this one as disposable. This DVD player works great while it is working.

I then purchased the upconverting dvd by sony on amazon and am very pleased with the quality and the picture. I returned it to amazon and got a full refund. The player arrived with the dvd in the open position and it would not work when hooked up. The workmanship is pretty shoddy.

Otherwise, why include any cables at all. I could not be more satisfied with this DVD Player. I've owned a couple of DVD players in this price range and they were simply mediocre but I needed a DVD player for my office and didn't see a need for anything too high end. Build quality is high, whisper quiet if not silent while operating and picture quality is phenomenal.

Sound quality is excellentThis is a high quality unit that greatly surpassed my expectations. I don't think you could find anything remotely close to it in this price range. Colors are bright and vivid. There's no noticeable blurring during frantic action scenes unlike similarly priced DVD players.

I received a set of audio cable (the traditional red/white ones) but there was nothing in the box for video. The picture quality greatly surpasses any DVD player with similar features in this price range. I admit that I had rather low expectations due to the price. I ended up digging around and I was able to find some old component cables.Once you have it all hooked up, however, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

If this was intentional, why not throw in at least a simple yellow composite cable. Boy, was I surprised when hooked this baby up.This is where I have my biggest complaint - the lack of video cables. Whether this was intended or not, it was very frustrating.

So far it has been a great DVD for the price. Bought this for my son.

Black lettering on a light gray background is much easier to read than the reverse especially when you are looking for the pause button in a darkened room. The price makes is all the more worth it. The remote is quite nice. What a nice, compact easy to use player. It takes up a lot less room than my old one.Yes, as some have said, it is a little slow in loading, but it's not that bad.
