I liked the colors better on the dvd and my friend thought one could see too many things and little flaws in the movie on the blueray. It was tested against a Playstation 3 and there were no apparent difference in output. Also tested it versus a blueray version of the test movie on the PS 3. Five stars, because it has performed perfectly. A blueray player went way down my list, if not totally off. Sites on the web led me to believe it was - I will check it out better next time. However, I looked for a region-free dvd-player and this is not one of them. It is not worth to return it at less than $50, I can wait a little longer ~ a couple of years.
GREAT REMOTE-PICKED UP MY TV RIGHT AWAY. SO FAR IT'S GREAT. IT'S ONLY BEEN A MONTH BUT IT'S WORKING GREAT.
The composite hookup provides picture and sound quality on a par with VHS; the quality is noticeably inferior to that of the Toshiba's built-in player. I'm not complaining, though.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that the remote control is programmable and compatible with the Toshiba (wish it had a mute button). For the money, this unit is probably hard to beat.
After the built-in DVD player in my 2-year-old Toshiba TV went south, I bought this unit. The sound reproduction is so poor I just won't use it for that.
It was easy to hook up: the composite jacks matched the inputs on the TV; couldn't use the component jacks and coaxial digital outputs, unfortunately.
Playing CDs is very disappointing.
audio is great and best of all it reads those DVD movies that are old and worn and skips all the time. So I bought this DVD player to replace the one that stopped working , in my bedroom. for the price you can't go wrong with this. it took me 2 mins to set up. This slim , small DVD player shows better than my other players. the picture is great .
In todays age, what more can you get dor this price,it plays discs very well, gives you a range of different tones, sound, very easy to forward past coming attractions.
